From Struggle to Strength: Farah’s Journey of Resilience and Education

1 September 2025 Also available in:
Farah

When Farah arrived in Türkiye in 2013 with her husband and two children, life was full of uncertainty. Financial hardship forced even her eldest son to work at a young age, while Farah herself laboured in factories for months without pay. But she never allowed hardship to define her.

“In our family, education is the most important thing. I always believed that with knowledge and skills, we can change lives.”

Back in Iran, she had earned a master’s degree in Social Mental Health and developed a passion for sculpture, painting, and jewellery design. In Türkiye, she turned these skills into a source of strength, not just for herself, but for others. She began working with associations to support people with disabilities. One young girl she helped once told her there was no hope for surgery to heal her injuries. But after the girl’s work was shown in an exhibition, a doctor offered to operate for free.

“When I saw her smile again, I realized that even small actions can create miracles.”

Farah’s dedication opened more doors. She became the director of a student dormitory, celebrated the birthdays of underprivileged girls, and encouraged them to continue their studies. Later, she taught art in public education centres, prisons, and even at universities.

Despite family struggles and personal losses, she built her own path forward. When she was denied work permits again and again, she refused to give up. She founded her own company, became a sworn translator, and created opportunities not just for herself, but for many others.

Today, Farah continues to teach, inspire, and remind everyone she meets that resilience and education are the keys to building a future.

“I am strong. I will not be crushed. My success is my answer to everything I went through.”

Farah’s journey is proof that women’s strength can light the way for entire communities, and that education is the most powerful tool of transformation.
