UNHCR collaborates with Government partner, National Commission for the Integration and Monitoring of Refugees (CNISR) to implement its activities. UNHCR has in the past closely worked with
- the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in agricultural programs
- the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) through a periodic distribution of hygiene kits to refugee girls and women
- the World Health Organization (WHO) through epidemiological surveillance and modern maternity equipment.
By end of June 2025, 1,539 refugees lived in the region of Conakry, with 80% of refugees coming from Sierra Leone. Other nationalities include Liberia and Cote d’Ivoire.
The most viable durable solutions for refugees living in Guinea are:
- repatriation and local integration through including all refugees in national state services (education, health, civil registration, documentation, employment, sexual and gender-based violence, child protection, etc.)
- providing income-generating grants to build refugee self-sufficiency.
