New wave of people reported leaving remote Pakistani valley
8 Nov 2005 Hundreds - if not thousands - of families are reportedly heading down to Balakot in Pakistan's North-West Frontier Province, after the road to a remote valley was cleared last weekend. As the UNHCR/NATO airlift enters its second phase, the Pakistan army, UNHCR and other aid agencies are preparing themselves for a possible large influx of newcomers into camps in the area. -

24 Oct 2005 UNHCR is rushing supplies to quake-hit areas like Balakot, Batagram and Muzaffarabad as camps spring up for people who lost their homes in the disaster. Four camps are up and running in joint efforts by UNHCR, the military and NGOs. Many more spontaneous camps will also need assistance.
