Solutions found for East Timor's separated children
14 Dec 2004 After a long search, solutions have been found for nearly 4,500 children separated from their families during the upheaval in East Timor in 1999. Most have either been reunited with their families or will continue to stay with their caregivers in Timor-Leste and Indonesia. The two countries have signed an agreement on how to help the remaining 107 children and on how future cases will be managed. -

18 Nov 2004 Canada has agreed to resettle close to 1,000 Afghan refugees in Tajikistan who seem unlikely to ever be able to return home in safety. They will start moving to their new home early next year. -
Ivorian refugee arrivals in Liberia reach 13,000
17 Nov 2004 This includes more than 1,000 Ivorians who arrived overnight in Bimplay, north-eastern Liberia. Some of them said they fled after hearing fighting. In addition, close to 900 Liberian refugees in Côte d'Ivoire have also returned home over the last few days. -
UNHCR helps Liberia respond to continued Ivorian influx
15 Nov 2004 An estimated 10,000 refugees from Côte d'Ivoire have arrived in eastern Liberia since last week, some of them for the second time in two years.
