21 Nov 2006 A UNHCR-escorted convoy from Botswana has carried a group of 22 Namibian refugees back to their country. It was the second small repatriation of Namibians from Botswana this year, leaving behind about 1,100 of their countrymen who fled during a secessionist struggle in Namibia's Caprivi Strip in the late 1990s. -
Namibia joins South Africa and Zambia in extending HIV/AIDS treatment to refugees
10 May 2006 Last month the Namibian government agreed to extend its national HIV/AIDS programme to include the 6,000 refugees still living in the country. Most of the countries in the region unofficially include refugees in their plans - South Africa and Zambia formally do. Botswana now remains the only one that officially denies refugees equal access to HIV/AIDS treatment. -
Returns to Caprivi small-scale but significant, says UNHCR

24 Sep 2004 The first flight from Namibia's Osire camp to Angola's Huambo province brought 105 refugees home. Twice-weekly flights will follow, bringing more than 400 Angolan refugees home every week.
