On 13 June, the Minister of Home Affairs will officially launch the Refugee Awareness Week. During two weeks, UNHCR representatives, implementing partners and government officials will participate in a one-hour live radio programme dedicated to refugee issues.
The UNHCR World Refugee Day film about refugee youth will be broadcast on the national TV channel on 14-15 June. The High Commissioner's speech will also be shown on TV.
Since the launch of the repatriation of Angolan refugees from Zambia is on 12 June, UNHCR will make a documentary about the event.
UNHCR will organise a training session on peace issues and a workshop on conflict resolution. An awareness campaign on refugee issues will be organised in schools in Lusaka and in refugee camps' locations.
UNHCR will also facilitate a field mission to Meheba refugee settlement for some journalists to do in depth features on refugee youth issues.
On 16 June, a multicultural event will take place: refugees, government agencies, UNHCR and NGOs will organise stands to exhibit their panels and craft. Various performances, including traditional dances, exhibitions and sports competitions will also take place.
