ABOUT THE DAFI SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME
Through the dedicated support of the Government of Germany, along with the support of the Government of Denmark, UNHCR and private donors, the DAFI programme has supported over 21,500 young refugees to undertake tertiary studies since 1992. The DAFI program supports young refugees with high academic abilities - who meet the requirements of the program and have passed the qualification selection - to access to secondary vocational and higher education in the territory of the first country of asylum. The DAFI Fellowship is designed to provide refugee youth with the opportunity to contribute their knowledge, and leadership skills to refugee communities and to promote peaceful coexistence, social cohesion and positive development of host communities. To help achieve these goals, each student receiving a scholarship must make a personal contribution to the life of their community and society, not only through their academic achievements and professional career, but also through personal participation, support, and inspiration of other members of the community, especially refugee children and youth.
DAFI Scholarships are awarded for a maximum of four years of undergraduate or equivalent degree studies at accredited higher education institutions. The DAFI program does not provide education at the master's level.
DAFI Scholarship covers tuition fees, education fees, study materials, and other education-related expenses such as research or internships. The scholarship also covers the cost of food, travel, accommodation, and other expenses associated with obtaining professional or higher education.
