2 May 2005 The number of people fleeing insecurity in post-election Togo has risen to more than 16,500, some of them citing harassment by security forces. More than 2,000 have been moved to camps further inland in Benin, while those in Ghana are crossing back home to work in the daytime. -

28 Apr 2005 As refugees fleeing general insecurity in Togo continue to cross into Benin - numbering more than 3,600 in the last 48 hours - UNHCR is deploying an emergency team to Benin and trucking in more supplies from its warehouse in Accra. Small numbers of refugees are also reportedly trickling into Ghana. -
UNHCR urges peaceful resolution of Togo crisis
27 Apr 2005 Some 1,200 refugees from Togo crossed over into neighbouring Benin and Ghana on Tuesday after the election results were announced. UNHCR is urging governments in the West African region to continue to work with the Togolese to find a peaceful solution to the current political crisis. -
International Women's Day: WISE up to women's leadership in Ghana
14 Mar 2005 UNHCR and its partner, the Women's Initiative for Self-Empowerment (WISE), recently organised free professional care and services for refugee women in Buduburam settlement. This was in addition to year-round empowerment and skills training projects to encourage leadership among them.
