Women’s Day Event – Refugee and asylum-seeking women in Cyprus: Challenges and Opportunities

UNHCR Cyprus marks Women's Day with dedicated event about, for and with refugee and asylum-seeking women.

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the UNHCR Country Office in Cyprus will host the event Refugee and asylum-seeking women in Cyprus: Challenges and Opportunities.

The event will be held under the auspices of the President of the House of Representatives, Ms. Annita Demetriou and with the support of the Municipality of Nicosia and the Nicosia Municipality Multifunctional Foundation.

PROGRAMME
Speakers:
Ms Annita Demetriou, President of the House of Representatives
Ms Katja Saha, UNHCR Representative in Cyprus
Ms Josie Christodoulou, Independent Consultant on Gender Issues
Ms Balqees Mohiyadin, Refugee in Cyprus
Ms Widad Al Banna, Refugee in Cyprus
Empowerment initiatives and projects will also be presented by refugee women and supporting organisations.

The event will take place at the Nicosia Municipality Multifunctional Foundation, but with limited attendance by personal invitation due to COVID protocols. SafePass and facemasks are required.
