Refugee Week Greece Festival returns to KAPAPS Park with a joyful celebration for all ages on June 20, World Refugee Day. In collaboration with the organizations - members of the working team “Interculturality and Communities of the City” of the Athens Municipality's Coordination Centre for Migrant and Refugee issues | ACCMR and with the participation and support of 22 organizations that contribute to integration, the event invites old and young residents of the city and the neighbourhood to participate in an intercultural picnic around which colourful activities will “come alive,” highlighting the power of community.

On World Refugee Day we honour the strength, resilience and stories of people who have been forced to leave their homes. Through the Refugee Week Greece festival, which serves under the auspices of the Municipality of Athens and its 2025 theme “Community as a superpower”, we are committed to building communities of solidarity, inclusion, and equal opportunities for all.

The meeting point is the “Kapaps Park for Children and Culture”, a public space of great social and cultural value for the neighbourhood and its people, just 8 minutes’ walk from Panormou Metro Station. A spot in the city, not chosen by chance, as the action aims to send another message about reclaiming and revitalizing public spaces through the collective strength of the community.

We are waiting for you from 18:00 to celebrate together with a rich programme of activities for all ages: Exhibitions by UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, SolidarityNow and EEA Grants, an art exhibition with works by students on the theme “My dream for the world”, boxing with World Champion Natassa Pontika, Greek and Ukrainian flavours at Myrtillo café, presentation of the book “Rights, a company that is always with you” by METAdrasi, children's workshops with super heroes, painting and games, face painting, ice cream by Ben & Jerry's, art workshops for adults (embroidery, painting, choreography, collage), book readings in the libraries (18:30), music workshop with drums, saxophone, trombone, and trumpet (18.30), puppet theatre (19.30), traditional Irish dance workshop (19.30) and percussion workshop with the Revma group (20.15).

The event will close with the Women's Choir Ensemble “CHÓRES” on the main stage! An all-female artistic community that, firmly rooted in choral music, has also opened itself up to dance and theatre, and cultivates creative personalities with vision and heart. Get ready for an unforgettable festive moment full of energy and emotion!
