No child chooses to become a refugee. Millions of children around the world have been uprooted, losing their safety, their families, and their schools.

Marina's UNHCR activity

UNHCR’s partnership with acclaimed artist Marina Satti brings together music, advocacy, public awareness and community engagement in support of people forced to flee, especially refugee children. Even before officially becoming a high profile supporter in April 2025, Marina had already been using her artistic platform to raise awareness and inspire solidarity.

The collaboration began in July 2024 with the release of her song and music video “Ah THALASSA”, a tribute to lives lost at sea and a heartfelt call for compassion dedicated to her late father. The song was part of her album P.O.P., which received international recognition, entering the Global Spotify Debut Albums Top 10 and the Spotify Top Albums Debut UK.

Through the campaign surrounding the song, Marina encouraged her audience to stand in solidarity with people forced to flee, helping raise awareness of refugee issues and mobilizing support for UNHCR’s work.

Deeply committed to human connection, Marina seeks to engage with refugees wherever possible and amplify their voices. Her first field mission in December 2024 took her to Lesvos island, where she met refugees trying to rebuild their lives, shared conversations and connected with children through dance and music. A year later, at Schisto camp in Athens, she joined the festive celebrations with children and their families, spreading joy, warmth, and music while offering toys to the youngest residents.

Beyond her field visits, Marina consistently brings the refugee cause into the public eye through her artistic and public presence. At the Thessaloniki International Fair in September 2024, she helped draw hundreds of visitors to UNHCR’s pavilion by sharing her experience with warmth and spontaneity across her social channels. During her 2025 summer P.O.P. tour, she highlighted her partnership with UNHCR, encouraging her audience to learn, care, and take action.

Marina has also shown openness to supporting innovative refugee-driven projects. In an interview with Migratory Birds, a newspaper led by young refugees and locals, which has been supported by UNHCR, she spoke authentically about her musical journey and her own lived experience of diverse cultural identities.

She further amplified her support through UNHCR’s 2026 Winter Campaign, sharing an appeal that reached a wide audience and helped raise vital funds in support of refugees.

Creativity has also shaped the partnership through the “MARINA SATTI X UNHCR” merchandise line launched in June 2025. The T‑shirts and tote bags became symbols of solidarity, with proceeds supporting refugees. This effort culminated in a special mini concert merch signing event in January 2026 where Marina welcomed fans to an intimate evening of music, storytelling, and connection to raise funds for refugee children.
