Refugees in Indonesia
Although Indonesia has not ratified the 1951 Refugee Convention, it has long had a tradition of accepting refugees and people in need of international protection.
Currently, there are 12,112 refugees registered with the UNHCR office in Indonesia. 30% of the total registered individuals in Indonesia are children.
As of December 2025, most refugees in Indonesia come from Afghanistan (40%), Myanmar (22%), and Somalia (12%).
