22 June 2020

What is the IASC logo-making contest?

An initiative that aims to recognize the skills and talents of the refugees, asylum seekers, and stateless persons, and at the same time, foster awareness among the public on their plight.

Why a logo-making contest?

On 20 June 2020, UNHCR joins the world in commemorating the World Refugee Day. With the theme, “Everyone can make a difference, Every Action Counts”, this year’s commemoration will shine a light on the plight and contributions of refugees, IDPs, stateless persons, and other vulnerable populations amid the pandemic. In view of this, the Inter-Agency Steering Committee (IASC) for the Protection of Refugees, Asylum Seekers and Stateless Persons is launching the IASC Logo-Making Contest.

Who is the IASC?

Adopted in 2017, the IASC is the Government’s inter-agency coordinating body that ensures refugees, asylum seekers, and stateless persons are protected and have access to rights and services in fulfilment of the Philippines’ commitments under the 1951 Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees, its 1967 Protocol and the 1954 Convention Relating to the Status of Stateless Persons. It is composed of 16 members from the executive and judiciary branches of the government. Evolving issues on persons of concern led to the expansion of the IASC to include four (4) new agencies acting on an observer capacity.

Who is it for?

The contest is open to all refugees, asylum seekers, stateless persons, and persons at risk of statelessness in the Philippines.

What is the prize?
