Argentina
In collaboration with local authorities and partners, UNHCR facilitates access, regularization, and integration for refugees. Through community-driven support initiatives, we promote their inclusion in national services, employment opportunities, and vocational training programs.
Argentina, by the end of 2024, hosted over 170,000 refugees and stateless persons. UNHCR works closely with local authorities and partners like the National Commission for Refugees (CONARE) to ensure access to asylum, prevent refoulement, and improve asylum procedures. Through training for immigration and security staff, we also strengthen responses to the Venezuela crisis.
UNHCR focuses on facilitating the regularization and integration of refugees, promoting their inclusion in national services, employment, and vocational training. Together with partners, we offer essential services like housing, healthcare, and clothing, while also supporting socio-economic inclusion through social protection programs, job opportunities, and self-employment initiatives.
UNHCR operates in key border areas and urban centers, providing information and assistance to those entering the country.
