Immigration and Asylum Bill

Introduced to Parliament on 30 June 2026, the Immigration and Asylum Bill proposes changes to the UK's immigration and asylum system. The bill is currently progressing through Parliament and will be subject to further scrutiny and debate as it moves through the legislative process.

UNHCR has shared detailed observations on the bill with the UK Government, setting out recommendations aimed at strengthening the legislation, supporting the achievement of its stated objectives, and ensuring continued consistency with the UK's obligations under the 1951 Refugee Convention and international refugee law.
