UNHCR Honorary Lifetime Goodwill Ambassador Barbara Hendricks met with Malian refugees in Damba Camp, northern Burkina Faso, in 2012. She used her visit to highlight the plight of tens of thousands of refugees who fled from conflict in their country that year and were living in camps or settlements in neighbouring countries.

"In my 25 years as UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador, I have always felt a strong connection with refugee women," she says, “They are strong and brave and they inspired me so much in my own life."
