PROVISIONAL ANNOTATED AGENDA

1. Adoption of the agenda

2. Adoption of the draft report of the seventh meeting of the Standing Committee (30 April - 1 May 1997)

The draft report of the seventh meeting of the Standing Committee, which was held on 30 April and 1 May 1997, is contained in document EC/47/SC/CRP.24.

3. Protection issues

The Standing Committee will consider the following documents, each of which will be introduced and discussed separately:

(i) Note on International Protection (EC/47/SC/CRP.26)

(ii) Note on UNHCR and Statelessness Activities (EC/47/SC/CRP.31)

(iii) Update on the Informal Consultations on International Protection for all who need it (EC/47/SC/CRP.27)

(iv) Note on the Cessation Clauses (EC/47/SC/CRP.30)

(v) Note on the Exclusion Clauses (EC/47/SC/CRP.29)

(vi) Return of Persons not in need of International Protection (EC/47/SC/CRP.28)

(vii) UNHCR's Activities for Refugee Law Promotion, Dissemination and Training (EC/47/SC/CRP.32)

4. Programme and funding matters

Under this item the Standing Committee will consider an Update on Programme and Funding Projections for 1997 and Tentative Estimates for the 1998 General Programmes Target (EC/47/SC/CRP.34), together with its annexed decision.

5. Situation reports

(i) Africa regional review. The following situation reports will be introduced and debated as a cluster:

(a) Update on Regional Developments in Central, East and West Africa (EC/47/SC/CRP.37)

(b) Update on Developments in the Great Lakes Region (EC/47/SC/CRP.38)

(c) Update on Developments in the Southern African Region (EC/47/SC/CRP.36),

(ii) Follow up to the CIS Conference. A document entitled Follow-up on the Implementation of the Programme of Action of the CIS Conference (EC/47/SC/CRP.35) will be before the Standing Committee for separate review.

6. Reports relating to oversight

Under this agenda item, the Standing Committee will consider an Update on International Procurement (EC/47/SC/CRP.33).

7. Governance issues

The following issues relating to the work of the Executive Committee will be introduced and discussed separately:

(i) Selection of the Annual Theme for the forty-eighth session of the Executive Committee. A draft decision will be before the Standing Committee.

(ii) Executive Committee working methods. A report on the informal consultations on NGO observer participation in the Standing Committee and a related proposal and draft decision will be before the Standing Committee for consideration (EC/47/SC/CRP.39).

8. Management and financial issues

The Standing Committee will hear an oral update on Project Delphi.
