UNHCR Armenia helps displaced women earn income with traditional handicrafts

UNHCR Armenia, in partnership with MADE51 initiative and Homeland Development Initiative Foundation (HDIF), helps displaced women in Armenia demonstrate their handicrafts and earn income to support their families.

“It’s pleasing to know that these cute Easter eggs will decorate homes of many good people in the world. We are proud to be part of this wonderful entrepreneurship and promote traditional Armenian crafts made by Syrian-Armenians”, – say twin sisters, Houri and Salpi, Syrian-Armenian artisans and entrepreneurs. This wonderful group of Syrian-Armenian women artisans create Easter eggs made of felt and decorated with Marash traditional Armenian embroidery ornament. These delightful handmade souvenirs, now available at MADE51 online shop, can bring joy to many households around the world and help improve livelihoods of displaced Syrian artisans in Armenia.
