UNHCR relies almost exclusively on voluntary contributions from governments, the United Nations, intergovernmental institutions and the private sector. Raising funds for our programmes and responding to new refugee crises is a relentless struggle for UNHCR.
The regular UN budget provides a limited financial contribution (approximately only 2 per cent). UNHCR works year-round locally and internationally to fundraise for its programs and address new humanitarian emergencies as they occur.

Regular updates and information on our programmes, financial requirements and donor contributions are available on the Global Focus website and the Refugee Funding Tracker (Microsoft Power BI). In this changing and complex operational environment in terms of needs and priorities, UNHCR calls on donors to provide contributions that can be allocated as flexibly as possible.
In this way, we will be able to direct funding to where it is most needed, providing protection, shelter, healthcare, education and many more basic needs for refugees, asylum seekers, and stateless people.
