News Comment: UNHCR welcomes decision for disembarkation

The UN Refugee Agency – UNHCR warmly welcomes the decision by the Maltese Government to allow for the disembarkation of the reported 234 people on board the MV Lifeline in Malta and for assistance in providing food supplies and medical evacuation.

The UN Refugee Agency – UNHCR warmly welcomes the decision by the Maltese Government to allow for the disembarkation of the reported 234 people on board the MV Lifeline in Malta and for assistance in providing food supplies and medical evacuation.

UNHCR is grateful that this ordeal was resolved and that a way forward was found. UNHCR welcomes the decision by a number of Member States to show solidarity and arrive at a timely solution for the disembarked people.

UNHCR in Malta stands ready to support the authorities as needed.
