UNHCR’s partner ‘I Want to Help Refugees’ provides advise and support to help refugees navigate life in Latvia.
Since Latvia started seeing increased numbers of refugees and asylum-seekers arriving to the country, UNHCR’s partner, the NGO I Want to Help Refugees, stepped up the support to refugees in order to help them integrate and find their way in Latvia.
“We have mentors to help refugees overcome difficulties, because the beginning is often the hardest”, says Dainis from I Want to Help Refugees.
When Milad fled Iran in 2010, he had lost everything. “You get your one luggage and leave everything. Home, car, what you had, your family. Everything.”
However, I want to Help Refugees and his mentor Dainis helped Milad get back on his feet, and today, he runs a successful pizzeria in Riga.
Meet Milad and learn more about the work of I Want to Help Refugees and their integration work in Latvia in this video.
