UNHCR works to ensure that everyone has the right to seek asylum and find safe refuge, having fled conflict, violence, or persecution at home. UNHCR is almost entirely funded by voluntary contributions. Estonia is a reliable UNHCR donor and provides strong financial and technical support. Estonia also supports UNHCR’s digitalization efforts and activities.

Estonia is a reliable partner to UNHCR and have contributed to the response in several refugee situations, such as Ukraine and the Rohingya situation. In 2025, Estonia provided UNHCR with a total of USD 107,400 in financial contributions.
