Lithuania is covered by UNHCR’s Representation for the Nordic and Baltic Countries, based in Stockholm, Sweden. The Representation has a liaison office in Lithuania, as well as Estonia and Latvia. The Representation in Stockholm also covers Sweden Denmark, Finland, Iceland and Norway.
UNHCR’s work in Lithuania focuses on supporting the government in implementing international legal standards on asylum and statelessness, ensuring that refugees and asylum-seekers have access to protection, rights, and essential services. As part of the Ukraine Refugee Response Plan, Lithuania has worked with local partners and refugee-led organizations to promote legal aid, social inclusion, and community-based support.
With a growing emphasis on capacity building and integration at the municipal level, Lithuania demonstrates its commitment to shared responsibility and solidarity in addressing displacement and has increased its funding to UNHCR.
