Health

Afghan refugee women living in refugee villages have good access to reproductive health (RH) services with over 85 per cent antenatal coverage and 60 per cent deliveries by trained attendants, mainly as a result of their relatively easy access to the health facilities located in the Refugee villages.

Relentless advocacy by UNHCR led to the inclusion of Afghan refugees in government preventive health programs like EPI, TB control, leishmaniosis, HIV prevention and treatment services etc.

UNHCR complements department of health Baluchistan HIV prevention response by providing harm reduction services to drug users in Quetta city.

Through the Refugee Affected and Hosting Area (RAHA) strategy, UNHCR has established state of the art dialysis unit in Quetta Baluchistan and is constructing a dedicated cold chain facility for vaccines storage in Peshawar that will be catered for the entire KP province needs.
