About Jeny BSG

Jeny Bonsenge, also known as Jeny BSG, has been supporting UNHCR since September 2024. A dancer, choreographer, content creator, and entrepreneur, Jeny uses her global platform to advocate for refugees and forcibly displaced communities.

Born in Belgium to parents who fled violence in the Democratic Republic of the Congo in the 1990s, Jeny has a deep personal connection to the refugee cause. She rose to international prominence in 2019 following a viral dance performance that led to an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Today, she is also the founder and CEO of AfroHouseBelgium, a Brussels‑based dance school promoting culture, inclusion, and empowerment.

Advocating for refugees

Jeny’s commitment to UNHCR is rooted in her own family’s refugee story. In September 2024, she publicly shared her story at UNHCR Belgium’s Business with Heart event, encouraging business leaders to engage more actively in supporting refugees. Since then, she has consistently used her voice to help shift narratives around forced displacement.

She has also raised awareness about the humanitarian situation in eastern DRC by authoring an op‑ed published in the leading Belgian francophone newspaper La Libre, with explainer videos disseminated widely on social media channels, and by helping amplify refugee issues at the EU policy level by meeting Members of the European Parliament.
