UN Global Disposal Services
UN Global Disposal Services
We provide professional, secure and transparent public, online and sealed-bid asset auctions that maximise cost recovery and minimise waste generation.
What makes our disposals efficient
The UN system owns a significant number of assets worldwide, including a combined fleet of about 30,000 light vehicles. With a mature, time-tested, and standardized solution, UN Global Disposal Services provides efficient asset disposal for the UN system and other humanitarian organizations.
Having a single, centralised system for asset disposal creates significant synergies, reducing costs by eliminating the need for each organization to establish its own disposal unit and freeing up personnel to focus on supporting the communities that they serve, while implementing the core mandate of their respective organizations.
Our services have been recognized in the UN Efficiency Agenda and are listed by the Business Operations Strategy (BOS) as one of the key High-Impact Common Services and a Prioritized Global Shared Service for the UN system.

When vehicles and other assets are no longer needed or reach the end of their operational lives, we provide efficient public, online and sealed-bid auctions supported by a team of disposal experts and a comprehensive network of contracted auctioneers covering more than 70 countries globally, as well as conducting auctions online.

Work with a growing business
In 2024, the service closed a record year by disposing of almost 2,000 vehicles, generating a global cost recovery of nearly $51 million for the UN system, which can be freed up to support programmes, where it is needed the most.

Reduce environmental impact
Timely disposal is important, as storing aging vehicles and other assets in warehouses incurs high costs, while discarding or allowing them to decay can present serious environmental risks.
Our services offer a ready-made, proven solution that reduces duplication across agencies, supports the UN’s 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals, and strengthens operational efficiency. By managing the entire lifecycle of surplus assets, our work promotes circular economy principles, helps organizations recover value, and frees up local operational bandwidth—all critical to delivering leaner, more sustainable humanitarian action.
Our services ensure that assets are sold at the optimal time to maximise residual use and value.
