UNHCR operates almost entirely through voluntary contributions from governments, the United Nations, pooled funding mechanisms, intergovernmental organizations and the private sector. We work all year round to respond to the needs created by emerging emergencies and to fund our programmes.

These contributions enable us to target our funds to areas of greatest need, enabling us to provide protection, shelter, water, health care, education and other essential goods to millions of refugees, asylum seekers, stateless persons and internally displaced people around the world.
