UNHCR conducts a visit to Vitebsk region
VITEBSK – On 1–2 July 2026, UNHCR in Belarus, led by Head of Office and Protection Officer Ms Magdalena Aguilar Pulido, conducted a mission to Vitebsk.
The mission included meetings with the management of the regional asylum authority, personnel of UNHCR’s partner organisation, the Refugee Counselling Service (RCS), as well as a visit to the state-run Temporary Accommodation Centre (TAC) for asylum-seekers.
The mission provided an opportunity to obtain up-to-date information on assistance provided to forcibly displaced people and their situation in the Vitebsk region, and to discuss issues of mutual interest and concern.
UNHCR also met with asylum-seekers residing in the TAC and obtained first-hand information about their experiences and needs.
