World Refugee Day 2004 National Activity Plan: Kenya

20 June 2004

Over 600 people enjoyed the concert at the Moscow Club of Scientists that brought together Russian and refugee musicians.

UNHCR will organise various events in Kakuma and Dadaab refugee camps. The winning essays will be published in the local papers.

UNHCR will invite government officials and donors based in Nairobi to attend the event to be held in Kakuma camp.

Local artists will perform a play in a leading theatre in Nairobi on 16 June. A pictorial exhibition on the repatriation of refugees will be set up at the French Cultural Centre in Nairobi for a week.

A UNHCR film and a video on the refugee aid programme in Kenya will be broadcast on national TV channels on 20 June.

An awareness week will be organised at Moi University with the collaboration of the Department of Refugee Affairs Activities. Activities will include talks, video shows, and distribution of information about UNHCR's activities and refugee issues in Kenya.
