World Refugee Day celebrations will take place in Kathmandu, Damak, and in the seven refugee camps.

In the camps, UNHCR will organise cultural events, including a drama on the World Refugee Day theme, "A Place to Call Home", and a debate-competition among students. Sports events will also be held, including a football tournament between the different sectors of the camps and a sport competition for disabled children.

In Damak, UNHCR's videos, "Working with Refugees" and "Global View", will be screened in a local hall. There will also be an exhibition of products made by refugees.

In Kathmandu, a UNHCR documentary and a programme for children will be screened at Tibetan Reception Centre.

On 20 June, the High Commissioner's World Refugee Day statement will be published in several English-speaking and Nepali-speaking newspapers. An interview of the UNHCR Representative will also be published in two local papers, the Kathmandu Post and Kantipur.

On 20-21 June, the UNHCR video, "Global View", will be broadcast on local TV channels. A special radio programme, produced by Kanchenjunga FM, will be aired on both Kanchenjunga FM and Kantipur FM.
