World Refugee Day 2007 National Activities: Malaysia

Food distribution in Ethiopia's Hartisheik camp, which hosted more than 250,000 Somali refugees in the late 1980s.

On 15 June, the second UNHCR Refugee Carnival was held. Unique activities included hand-drawn T-shirts for each child and a photo booth so that refugee children had a memento of their day out.

On 20 June, a mini concert was held, celebrating the spirit and strength of refugees. More than 50 refugee children of various ethnicities performed traditional songs and dances. A Malaysian dance academy worked with 15 refugee children to produce a repertoire of dances.
