Refugee Environmental Protection Fund - Annual report 2024

The Refugee Environmental Protection (REP) Fund was created to unlock high-impact environmental solutions for refugee-hosting areas through innovative financing. In 2024, the Fund made critical strides toward that goal - mobilizing over USD 7 million in funding, completing feasibility studies across 11 sites, and confirming 3 pilot locations in Uganda and Rwanda. The annual report outlines this progress, with a special focus on the Fund’s carbon-financed model linking reforestation and clean cooking to global markets. It also details the Fund’s procurement process to select leading carbon project developers capable of delivering technically sound, socially inclusive, and financially sustainable solutions. As the Fund moves toward implementation in 2025, this year’s report offers both a reflection and a roadmap - highlighting the challenges we’ve addressed, the partnerships we’ve built, and the transformative potential of refugee-led solutions.
