Soak pit design guidelines in humanitarian contexts

These guidelines aim to address issues associated with inadequate design and construction of soak pits by providing: 1. methods and tools to assess local soil characteristics and develop tailor-made designs for soak pits; 2. a refresher about the different soak pit design options; 3. a holistic view beyond the soak pit itself, including the use of plants to increase water absorption and the option of pretreatment.
