Press Comment: UNHCR Malta commends Government efforts to regularise the position of THPN holders

This is a positive step in safeguarding the rights of individuals and towards a more inclusive society.

16 Nov 2018

In reference to the Government of Malta announcement, Policy regarding Specific Residence Authorisation—a policy for Specific  Residence Authorisation is replacing Temporary Humanitarian Policy

UNHCR Malta commends the Government’s efforts to regularise the position of Temporary Humanitarian Protection New (THPN) holders and persons who cannot be returned to their countries of origin, but who demonstrated integration efforts in Malta. This is a positive step in safeguarding the rights of individuals and towards a more inclusive society.

UNHCR Malta looks forward to the implementation of the policy and amendment of relevant laws in order to have this policy codified.
