UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency in Malta, has become aware of false information being circulated about a resettlement programme to Canada.

Please be informed that there is no resettlement programme from Malta to Canada or any other third countries.

Any rumours, documents or application forms being circulated about a UNHCR resettlement programme to Canada are false, and we therefore advise refugees and migrants to beware of anyone asking you to share sensitive information or pay a fee to apply for resettlement to a third country.

UNHCR services are ALWAYS free of charge and provided by UNHCR staff.

UNHCR Malta strongly cautions against the spreading of misinformation which takes advantage of persons seeking asylum. We would also advise anyone with information about these false rumours to contact the UNHCR office in Malta should you come across application forms that you suspect to be false.

We would appreciate it if this notice is shared among your network, especially refugee and migrant communities.
