Abdallah takes us to a spot where refugees can pick up a Syrian phone signal. Everyone wants to know if it's safe to go home.

At Za'atari refugee camp in Jordan, 12 kilometres from the Syrian border, there's a spot known as Syriatel Hill. It's a gentle rise, really, but the topography is just right for staying in touch. From here, refugees with Syrian phones can often pick up a Syrian phone signal and make local calls to friends and family back home. "Everyone is here to talk to their relatives," says Abdallah, a 12-year-old refugee from just across the border.
