Estonia
Estonia supports refugee protection through local partnerships, inclusive integration efforts, and consistent contributions to UNHCR.
Estonia is covered by UNHCR’s Representation for the Nordic and Baltic Countries, based in Stockholm, Sweden. The Representation has a liaison office in Estonia, as well as Latvia and Lithuania. The Representation in Stockholm also covers Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland and Norway.
UNHCR’s work in Estonia focuses on supporting the government in implementing international legal standards on asylum and statelessness, ensuring that refugees and asylum-seekers have access to protection, rights, and essential services. As part of the Ukraine Refugee Response Plan, Estonia has worked with local partners and refugee-led organizations to promote legal aid, social inclusion, and community-based support for Ukrainian refugees.
With a growing emphasis on capacity building and integration at the municipal level, Estonia demonstrates its commitment to shared responsibility and solidarity in addressing displacement and has increased its funding to UNHCR.
