PASS THE MIC

Behind every number is a story.

On 15 January, UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, will be passing the mic to four speakers with refugee backgrounds and impactful stories to share.

The speakers are participants from UNHCR’s Refugee Speakers Programme, a programme in collaboration with coaches from TEDx, to amplify refugee voices and experiences.

Join us on the evening of 15 January and listen to the stories of Galyna, Hamida, Adam, and Judy, when they take to the stage to share their personal experiences of fleeing home, of dangerous journeys, of separation and uncertainty, but also of hope and building a new life in Sweden.

The programme includes reflections from journalists Martin Schibbye, Edgar Mannheimer, Emma Bouvin and Anna Hedenmo, who will then pass the mic to the speakers. There will also be a reading by actor Hanna Ardéhn and music by Glädjekören.

In a world with more than 117 million people forcibly displaced, and as new wars and conflicts erupt while protracted crises persist, we need to remember that behind each figure is a human being with a story.

The event takes place at Maxim Teatern in Stockholm.
