Global Refugee Forum (GRF)
The Global Refugee Forum is convened every four years in Geneva, to support the implementation of the Global Compact on Refugees (GCR). It brings together UN Member States, non-governmental organizations, the private sector, academia, refugee-led organizations, displaced and stateless people, with the aim of discussing and finding solutions to the challenges faced by refugees and their host communities. GRF is an opportunity for states and other actors to pledge their contributions towards achieving the GCR objectives.
The Republic of Serbia participated in both Global Refugee Forums, in 2019 and in 2023 pledging to continue improving systems of refugee integration, access to rights, access to education, emergency response, issuing biometric ID documents to persons granted international protection and resolving problems of the remaining ex-Yugoslav refugees and internally displaced persons. The Republic of Serbia is also part of the multistakeholder pledge related to statelessness.
The Faculty of Law of the University in Belgrade pledged to educate future and current asylum system stakeholders through refugee law programs.
The last GRF saw 1750 pledges to support refugees and their host communities.
