*UNHCR’s operations in Chile are managed by the Argentina multi-country office, which also oversees operations in Argentina, Bolivia (Plurinational state of), Paraguay, and Uruguay, with needs budgeted jointly.

In Chile, UNHCR works closely with government institutions, partners, civil society, and communities to ensure international protection, support the integration of over 540,000 refugees, asylum-seekers, and others in need, and promote lasting solutions. 

Special emphasis is placed on engaging host communities to foster peaceful coexistence, counter xenophobia, and encourage inclusive social dynamics where Chileans and newcomers build stronger communities together.

The operations and activities undertaken by UNHCR in Chile are covered by the Multi-Country Office in Argentina, providing also support to refugees, asylum seekers, and other forcibly displaced people in Argentina, Bolivia (Plurinational State of), Paraguay, and Uruguay.
