MEDIA ADVISORY: Ahmad Fawzi joins UNHCR as Communication Advisor and Chief Spokesman for High Commissioner Grandi

UNHCR is pleased to announce that High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi has appointed Ahmad Fawzi as his Communication Advisor and Chief Spokesman.
Mr. Fawzi will be serving in this function over the next six months and during the temporary absence of Melissa Fleming, who has been working on the Secretary-General’s Transition Team in New York.
Mr. Fawzi has had a long career with the UN as spokesperson and communications adviser, working among others with former Secretaries-General Boutros Boutros-Ghali, Kofi Annan, Ban Ki-moon, as well as Special Envoys Lakhdar Brahimi, Sergio Vieira de Mello and Ian Martin. He was Director of News and Media in New York and, until recently, Director ad interim of the UN Information Service in Geneva.
UNHCR’s Head of News & Media, Adrian Edwards, continues his wider interim role in charge of the organization’s Communications and Public Information Service.
