UNHCR recommendations to Norway for strengthened refugee protection
UNHCR recommendations to Norway for strengthened refugee protection
Norway has made important contributions to international refugee protection, through a well-established asylum and reception system, comprehensive integration efforts, sustained participation in UNHCR’s resettlement programme, and significant, flexible support to UNHCR’s global operations. UNHCR also recognizes Norway’s principled engagement in European and international fora to advance protection-centered solutions.
UNHCR is grateful for Norway’s strong partnership and its role as a strategic donor, including flexible and unearmarked funding that helps address urgent humanitarian needs and strengthen protection and solutions for the most vulnerable refugees and stateless persons. UNHCR also welcomes Norway’s support for the Global Compact on Refugees and progress on GRF pledges.
This page presents UNHCR’s updated recommendations from the Representation for the Nordic and Baltic Countries to further strengthen refugee protection in Norway, and to support Norway’s engagement in European and global responsibility-sharing efforts. The recommendations are addressed to the Norwegian Government, parliamentarians and other stakeholders, and are intended to inform ongoing discussions on improving asylum, reception, integration and statelessness responses at national, regional and international levels.
