UNHCR in Montenegro intends to help the country build an effective and protection-sensitive asylum system, while advocating for enhancing the integration of persons granted international protection.
It also aims to ensure that all displaced persons from the former Yugoslavia can attain a stable legal status, which is the essential step to enable access to rights and services and achieve self-reliance and sustainable livelihoods.
UNHCR also advocates for the creation and implementation of a mechanism to systematically identify and register stateless persons, including the establishment of a separate procedure for the determination of statelessness.
