UNHCR in Kosovo will continue investing additional efforts in retaining the achieved results and making further progress in developing fair and efficient asylum system. Through partnerships, UNHCR aims at contribution toward safe access to territory, efficient asylum procedures; identification and referral of people with specific needs (with particular attention to Unaccompanied and Separated Children (UASC) and Sexual and Gender-based Violence (SGBV), adequate reception conditions, promote local integration for refugees and provide operational protection.
UNHCR will pursue its efforts to assist Kosovo authorities to eradicate risk of statelessness through advocacy and technical support for amendments of legislation and administrative procedures leading to the acquisition/confirmation of nationality; awareness-raising and training of the relevant government officials, judges and civil society and provide legal assistance to the most vulnerable categories.
UNHCR in Kosovo will continue conducting protection monitoring and providing free legal aid and through advocacy, support authorities in establishing conducive conditions for durable solutions, in particular voluntary return and reintegration, including promoting confidence-building and peaceful co-existence, property restitution and access to rights.
