Universal Periodic Review Dashboard

In 2006, the General Assembly created the Universal Periodic Review (UPR), a unique State-driven peer review mechanism.

Every four and a half years, the human rights record of all States is reviewed, on equal footing, by fellow States during an inter-governmental Human Rights Council Working Group session in Geneva, Switzerland. All States, without exception, are actively engaged in reviewing their peers’ human rights record and giving recommendations.

Once all States have been reviewed, a new cycle begins. Since 2006, two cycles have been concluded. The third cycle of the UPR will be completed in 2022.

UNHCR has developed an interactive dashboard to support UNHCR staff and partners in keeping track of relevant recommendations from the UPR process. The dashboard includes a selection of key recommendations from the 2nd and 3rd UPR cycles, focusing on asylum-seekers, refugees, internally displaced and stateless persons.
