ก่อนการแข่งขันฟุตบอลโลกชาย FIFA World Cup 2026 จะเปิดฉากขึ้นเพียงไม่กี่สัปดาห์ สำนักงานข้าหลวงใหญ่ผู้ลี้ภัยแห่งสหประชาชาติ (UNHCR ) ได้เปิดตัว Gamechanging Team ซึ่งเป็นทีมเชิงสัญลักษณ์ที่ประกอบด้วยนักฟุตบอลที่มีภูมิหลังเกี่ยวกับการเป็นผู้ลี้ภัยหรือการพลัดถิ่น
ทีมนี้สะท้อนให้เห็นถึงความหวัง ความกล้าหาญ ความเข้มแข็ง และพลังของโอกาสที่เป็นไปได้ เมื่อผู้คนที่ต้องถูกบังคัให้พลัดถิ่นจากสงครามและการประหัตประหารได้รับความปลอดภัย โอกาส และการต้อนรับจากสังคม

ทีม Gamechanging Team นำโดยอัลฟอนโซ เดวีส์ (Alphonso Davies) ทูตสันถวไมตรีของ UNHCR ซึ่งเกิดในค่ายผู้ลี้ภัยในประเทศกานา หลังจากพ่อแม่ของเขาต้องหนีจากสงครามในไลบีเรีย ก่อนที่จะได้รับโอกาสตั้งถิ่นฐานใหม่ในแคนาดา
ทีมนี้ได้รวบรวมนักฟุตบอลที่มีภูมิหลังเกี่ยวกับการเป็นผู้ลี้ภัยหรือการพลัดถิ่นจากทั่วโลกเข้าไว้ด้วยกัน ได้แก่
- อันโตนิโอ รือดิเกอร์ (Antonio Rüdiger) นักฟุตบอลจากทีมเรอัล มาดริด (Real Madrid) พ่อแม่ของเขาต้องหนีจากความขัดแย้งในเซียร์ราลีโอน
- เอดูอาร์โด กามาวิงกา (Eduardo Camavinga) นักฟุตบอลจากทีมเรอัล มาดริด (Real Madrid) เขาเกิดในแองโกลาระหว่างเกิดสงครามกลางเมือง
- วิกเตอร์ โมซิส (Victor Moses) นักฟุตบอลจากสโมสรเอฟซี ไกซาร์ (FC Kaisar) ต้องหนีความขัดแย้งจากไนจีเรียไปยังสหราชอาณาจักร
- อัสมีร์ เบกอวิช (Asmir Begović) ผู้รักษาประตูสโมสรฟุตบอลเลสเตอร์ซิตี้ (Leicester City FC) ต้องหนีสงครามในบอสเนียตั้งแต่อายุเพียง 4 ขวบ
- โมฮาเหม็ด ตูเร่ (Mohamed Touré) นักฟุตบอลจากสโมสรนอริช ซิตี้ (Norwich City FC) เขาเกิดในค่ายผู้ลี้ภัยในประเทศกินี ปัจจุบันเป็นนักฟุตบอลอาชีพลงเล่นให้กับทีมชาติออสเตรเลีย
- อาลี อัล-ฮามาดี (Ali Al-Hamadi) นักฟุตบอลจากสโมสรฟุตบอลอิปสวิช ทาวน์ (Ipswich Town FC) ครอบครัวของเขาหนีความัดแย้งในจากอิรักไปยังสหราชอาณาจักรเมื่อตอนเขาอายุเพียง 1 ขวบ
- เอเวอร์ มาบิล (Awer Mabil) นักฟุตบอลจากคลับ เดปอร์ติโว กัสเตญอน (CD Castellón) เขาเกิดในค่ายผู้ลี้ภัยคาคูมา ประเทศเคนยา
- เนสโตรี อิรันคุนด้า (Nestory Irankunda) นักฟุตบอลจากสโมสรวอตฟอร์ด เอฟ.ซี. (Watford FC) เขาเกิดในค่ายผู้ลี้ภัยในแทนซาเนีย
- เบอร์นาร์ด คามุนโก (Bernard Kamungo) นักฟุตบอลจากสโมสรฟุตบอลดัลลัส (FC Dallas) เขาเติบโตในค่ายผู้ลี้ภัยในแทนซาเนีย
- เออร์เมดิน เดมิโรวิช (Ermedin Demirović) นักฟุตบอลจากสโมสรเฟาเอ็ฟเบ ชตุทการ์ท (VfB Stuttgart) พ่อของเขาหนีความขัดแย้งจากในบอสเนียไปยังเยอรมนี

Carling Jackson
Canadian sports artist and humanitarian Carling Jackson collaborated with UNHCR to create an artwork of the Gamechanging Team, portrayed in a pre-match line-up, with their younger selves standing in front of them. On the right is the artwork she generously donated to UNHCR, currently on display at the United Nations Headquarters Visitor Center in New York until the end of July 2026.
Jacskon said, ‘’It is an incredible honor to paint these 11 players together for the first time as children and as heroes of multiple nations. Depicting these players standing before the world not only as the amazing footballers the world knows but as children; each carrying stories shaped by conflict, displacement or its consequences. I hope this image and this symbolic team will inspire young refugees across the world. For me, as for many as for many others, they simply embody hope, courage, resilience and the power of what is possible’’.
